Signature Beer: Going with the Cog Ale for now

Five second Description:  This is real cool scene with something for everyone.  The beer is OK, but the scene is great.  Four distinct indoor areas and an outdoor patio.  They even have a full disc golf course on the property and the future home of their own hops.

Why you should go: Very chill place with an environment for all tastes.

Signature Beer: Silver Sands IPA

Five second Description:  This is a barn turned into a very cool brewery.  The were getting ready to grow hops and add on a back deck to the barn when I visited.  Great beers across the board and fantastic movie references for all their beers which makes for a great trivia contest.

Why you should go: Authentic place that is real cozy and cool with great beers.

Stranger Tides Brewing

199 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, Connecticut

(516) 330-4773

Signature Beer: What is Up is Down

Five second Description:  Lively strip mall brewery that has a few of the ingredients, but is missing the boat.  The flights are cool since they are made from barrels, but the beer could be improved..  No food options that I could tell.

Why you should go: OK hangout for the area and the staff is very friendly. too!

Nolo

This was a restaurant that made its own beer, but it was more about the wine and the food.  My guess is that the restaurant was too high-end for the spot and for a brewery theme.

687 State Street, New Haven, CT 06511
(203) 891-7704

Signature Beer: Any of the Erector beers

Five second Description:  More of a high end restaurant that features Erector beers made on premises.  Very chic, but it is all about the expensive and great food.

Why you should go: Very high end food and exotic Italian cocktails.  The beer is great too!

Brewport

225 South Frontage Road Bridgeport CT 06604
(203) 612-4438

Signature Beer: Old News Double IPA

Five second Description:  Fantastic scene that is more of a great pizza restaurant than a brewery, not sure they take their beer too seriously, no IPA on tap!  Get the pizza without cheese and you will not be disappointed, it rivals the best in New Haven.

Why you should go: Great pizza, great merchandise, but the beer leaves something to be desired.

Broken Symmetry Gastro Brewery

5 Depot Place, Bethel, Connecticut 06801
(203) 826-9907

Signature Beer: Departure IPA Series

Five second Description:  Looks like a brewery space, but serves food as well.  Great beer and Mexican style food makes this a great stop.  More of a brewery than a restaurant.  It is right on the railroad tracks, but unfortunately they could not take advantage of using that for any view of the tracks.

Why you should go: Great beer and descent food that can be ordered at the counter.

Charter Oak Brewing

39 Shelter Rock Rd, Danbury, CT 06810
(203) 616-5268

Signature Beer: 1687 Brown Ale

Five second Description:  Great owner that will be there to talk about any of his experiences and his wife served brownies.  Possibly the two nicest owners I have ever met.  They have there flagship beers that tey have been brewing for years, but also several others that push the boundries across 10 taps.  Could also be the cleanest brew room I have ever seen.

Why you should go: There is something for everyone there in their beer.  A crowd pleasing space.
