Front Porch Brewing

In a small space poorly thesed and not really decorated without great beer.

226 N Plains Industrial Rd UNIT 4, Wallingford, CT 06492

Signature Beer: Not sure yet

Five second Description: All beers lean towards sours including the IPA and the stout. This place needs some finishing touches as you can see from the pictures.

Why you should go: Not sure I would recommend this place until they spruce it up a bit.

Parable Brewing Company

This closure was a shame, it was due to the lease that they were not able to extend, poor planning.

422A N Main Street, Manchester, CT 06042
(860) 643-2739

Signature Beer: Too early to tell, but their IPA seems to have some traction rock

Five-second Description: Standard office park setting with a well done interior. Still needs an identity or differentiator to make it memorable.

Why you should go: Good beer and a great bunch of owners.  This is the best place east of the river in CT.

Fat Orange Cat Brew Co.

This funky backyard brewery always had great beer and they sold the recipe and brand to 12 Percent which still brews great new versions.

47 Tartia Rd, East Hampton, CT 06424

Signature Beer: Severe Tire Damage IPA

Five-second Description: This is a home brewer that decided to build a bar in his back yard.  The place is awesome with plenty of comfortable outdoor seating and a mini farm for the kids.

Why you should go: They have great beer and one of the most relaxing settings of any brewery I have been to.  You feel like you are visiting old friends.

The Crossings Brewpub

This place was never much of a brewery, but I was surprised to see the restaurant closed.

45 Main Street, Putnam, CT 06260
(860) 928-3663

Signature Beer: Not sure on this

Five-second Description: Nice place to grab some grub in Putnam, but they need to work on their beer and marketing.  Pretty cool setting, it is an old railroad station and near a charming eclectic downtown.

Why you should go: Good food, neat setting and good guest beers on tap.

Steady Habit Brewing Company

Plain old bad management.  You could tell when you visited, they preferred to have a keg party vs serving customers.

95 Bridge Road, Haddam, CT 06438
(860) 777-5041

Signature Beer: Big Bad Bunny or Our Daily Bread IAP

Five second Description: They know how to make real good beer, and how to have a good time.  The only issue is that the drinking space if far from complete.  Feels more like a college dorm room than a brewery room designed for potential customers.

Why you should go: They know how to make beer that will appeal to all tastes. high quality beer

Signature Beer:  Cranky IPA

Five second Description: Great space to hang out and have a few.  It is on the water with a deck and a fantastic tasting room!

Beeracks

This was the smallest contract brewery I have ever seen and they had a few good brands like Hoax and Armada that grew up and moved on.

250 Bradley St, East Haven, CT 06512
(203) 909-6224

Signature Beer:  With all the guest beers, who knows?

Five second Description: Made to look like a nautical theme, but comes off like a finished basement.  Used to be just for Overshores, but now they have beers from several other brewers, most of which are contract brewed on location.

Why you should go: They do know Belgian beers and if you don’t like their beer they have many others.

City Steam Brewery

942 Main St, Hartford, CT  06103
(860) 525-1600

Unfortunately, they never evolved to reinvent themselves as a brewery introducing new beer and interesting food.  It is never good to get locked in time.

Signature Beer: Naughty Nurse

Five Second Description: Great brewpub in downtown Hartford.  Very innovative brewery with really OK food and a full restaurant.    Time to get a little creative with newer beers if they want to stay relevant.

Why you should go: A place to get a bite to eat and many of their own brews on tap including lighter New England IPAs.
